![]() The screen measured just 293 lux at full brightness, leaving us wishing we could adjust the settings just a few notches brighter. It does look a bit lanky though cause of its dimensions but still a very solid purchase.Click to EnlargeEven though it's a budget tablet, the 7-inch display on the MeMO Pad left something to be desired. While it may be unable to complete with some of the more popular flagship phones, it is still a very solid offering including 4 GB RAM, 256 GB storage, which is of course expandable and a Snapdragon 865 chipset. Remember when Sony’s (NYSE: SNE) Experia was all the rage over a decade ago? The Walkman style phones may be gone, but Sony is still in the game, and has recently launched its latest flagship phone. So let’s take a look at the phones where internal storage isn’t a major issue, starting with number 5: 5. Our list is based more on the quality of the phones after we first of course filtered the initial list to only include phones which actually have expandable memory. To find the list of best smartphones with expandable memory, we consulted various websites such as AndroidCentral, Android Authority, and TheDroidGuy. Another rarity now is the headphone jack, and you can take a look at the best phones offering it if you head on over to 5 best smartphones with a headphone jack in 2019. ![]() However, while most phones by default used to have expandable memory, as time has progressed, many phones have removed this feature, and so, you will see less phones with such an option. Luckily, many companies, in fact most companies, offer this invaluable feature including many flagship phones as well. Perhaps the biggest offender of this is Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), which has some of the most popular and well received phones and is a market leader, yet does not offer expandable storage, which is a let down. You are stuck with whatever the internal storage is. However, surprisingly, many phones still don’t have this option. Now, as phones’ prices keep increasing significantly, and this is especially true for the flagship, an SD card is a fraction of the price you’re paying for the phone and not a bad exchange at all. Of course, it wasn’t that long ago that SD cards were quite expensive and you would have to think twice before getting one. Add the fact that these external cards aren’t very expensive and you could easily buy a phone which may not have the best storage, but offers this option. That’s why companies have been so quick in adapting to greater storage capacity and the top tier ones even offer up to 512 GB, which is what most laptops tend to offer! Other phones have found an easy way out and offer low internal storage, which can be topped up by external memory cards, which can basically be limitless. There was a time when phones were just used for calls and messages, but now we have songs, videos, photos, files, document and so much more, necessitating a lot of storage, since its hard to delete your old data too. It has never been more important to have a large storage capacity in your phone. Now, it seems impossible that this small level of storage was so sufficient in those times. Remember back when having 128MB in your MP3 players seemed absolutely amazing? Then we moved on to 256MB and 512MB, and you thought you’d never have enough songs to max out the storage.
